Budding entrepreneurs enjoy Dragons’ Den task in Llantwit Major
Budding entrepreneurs at a school in Llantwit Major got to show their business skills at a Dragons’ Den-style event.
Around 70 pupils took part in the event at Llantwit Major School with the role of Dragons such as Hilary Devey and James Caan being taken on by Principality Building Society staff.
Andrew Clark, Principality’s Llantwit major branch manager, said: “All of the students were fantastic and there were some really innovative ideas on show. It brought out the best in them all, showing them the benefits of teamwork and good planning. The exercise is also useful in helping the pupils to learn about finances and the importance of saving, which could help them to become the entrepreneurs of the future.”
The pupils were split into groups of up to four people and each team had to come up with a business idea for a fundraising activity. They were marked on their professionalism, event coordination, pitch, teamwork and other skills by a team of four Principality and Legal & General Dragons.
Principality Building Society has teamed up with Legal &General to provide insurance cover to its customers and is working with the insurance company on a number of community projects.
The event was held as part of the school’s Enterprise Week and the following day the pupils sold their produce and put on their fundraising activities at the school’s Enterprise Fayre to raise money for a charity of their choice.
This is just one of the many on-going projects for Principality staff, with the building society having a strong history of supporting Welsh causes; backing hundreds of community projects, financially and through staff members’ time.
