Principality comes to the rescue of lifesaving group

Principality Building Society came to the rescue of a lifesaving group when they needed new hi-visibility rash vests to protect them at the beach.

Wales’ largest building society provided the new kits to the nippers and juniors at Llantwit Major Surf Life Saving Club as part of Principality’s Kit of the Month competition.

Principality Building Society’s Llantwit Major branch manager Andrew Clark, said: “We were delighted to be able to support the nipper and junior lifesavers in Llantwit Major.

“We are proud to be at the heart of our local communities and Llantwit Major Surf Life Saving Club does a fantastic job to support the people of Llantwit Major. Hopefully these new vests will help to protect them during both the summer and winter months and help them in their great efforts to protect people on our local beach.”

The Llantwit Major Surf Life Saving Club has more than 180 volunteers who provide a continuous voluntary service and first aid point on Llantwit Major beach.

Sian Davies from Llantwit Major Surf Life Saving Club, said: “The nippers (aged 7 to 13) and juniors (aged 13 to 18), are the largest part of the club with the fastest growing membership. The programs aims to develop their surf and rescue skills by ensuring each young person becomes actively involved in many aspects of the club whilst strengthening their life and leadership skills

“With the growing number of nippers and juniors, we are unable to offer them the equipment needed to patrol the beach, compete and train. We are very grateful to Principality as the new rash vests will not only protect them from the sun in the summer but also provide them extra warmth and protection in the winter months.”
