£5.7m development adds to the growing popularity of Baglan Energy Park
A £5.7m development bringing a new pharmacy, health centre and high quality office space to Baglan Energy Park has now been completed.
Principality Commercial, the commercial arm of Principality Building Society, has teamed up with developers Deryn Properties (Development) Ltd and the local council to develop the site in Briton Ferry.
The business park consists of three high-tech buildings. The first contains a new state of the art doctors’ surgery for 12,500 patients, housing the Waterside Medical Practice and Dr Wilkes & Partners which have moved from their old sites in Briton Ferry.
The second building contains a new pharmacy, run by Rob Davies Pharmacies as well as office space, an area of which has A3 planning use.
The third building also contains high quality office space that is available to let or for sale. In total there is 13,000sq ft of office space at the site for sales or letting. The site also contains designated parking spaces and drop-off facilities.
Gareth Redding from Principality Commercial, , said: “We have been working with Deryn Properties on a range of regeneration schemes over the last few years and we were delighted to work with them on this fantastic scheme at Baglan Energy Park.
“These facilities will help to provide jobs as well as high quality office space and health facilities to the local area.”
Baglan Energy Park is a significant employment site and has already attracted global businesses including Intertissue, one of the major tissue manufacturers in Europe, Montagne Jeunesse, a natural skin care company selling products worldwide, and pharmaceutical products manufacturers Ecolabs. It is also home to the Council’s Quays building and NPT Homes’ headquarters.
Jon Leyland, Director of Deryn Properties, said: “We are proud to once again work with Principality Commercial on this scheme. This has been an exciting project and we hope that it will help to deliver long-term economic benefits for the area.”
Councillor Ali Thomas OBE, Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council said: “I am very pleased that work has been completed on this exciting project which will provide state of the art medical facilities for the people of Briton Ferry, as well as first class business accommodation to create further investment and employment on Baglan Energy Park.
“There is now real momentum behind our Regeneration Strategy, building a better future for the County Borough. We will continue to work with our partners in the public and private sector to ensure that everyone in our local communities has access to the best possible services and to provide the right environment for businesses to invest, relocate and grow.”
This project comes after previous collaborations between Principality Commercial and Deryn Properties to regenerate Harbourside in Port Talbot where the two businesses worked together to build state of the art office / business facilities for TWI , Tata, Thyssen Krupp and the £3million Port Talbot Justice Centre.
