Principality member scores “unforgettable” rugby weekend
Watching Wales v Scotland from a hospitality box at Principality Stadium, seeing the Captain’s Run and having lunch with the Welsh team was just part of an “unforgettable” rugby experience for one lucky Principality Building Society member.
Jan Kammerling, 55, from Pwllheli, was the winner of the exclusive rugby weekend from Principality after winning an online competition.
The competition was open to Principality’s members, its savers and borrowers, who had signed up to Principality’s Member Rewards page and the prize included VIP hospitality tickets for the RBS 6 Nations Wales v Scotland match, a three night stay in the Clayton Hotel, £500 spending money, a tour of Principality stadium and much more.
Jan, who works part-time at the Celtic Herbal Company, invited her sister Helen Haplin to join her for the weekend.
Jan said: “It was an unforgettable experience, even better than I could have dreamed of. I have so many envious friends and I would encourage everyone to sign up to Principality’s Member Reward page to try and win a prize like this. We are extremely grateful to Principality Building Society for allowing us to have that experience. It was absolutely wonderful.”
On the Friday, the sisters attended the Captain’s Run and had a tour of Principality Stadium before heading to the Vale Resort for lunch where they had a pleasant surprise. Jan said: “We went to have lunch at the Vale Resort and Alan Phillips, the Welsh team manager, spotted us and asked us to go and join the players for lunch. It was fantastic and very relaxed. It was a very unexpected bonus for us.”
On the Saturday the sisters then went to the Wales v Scotland game in the hospitality box where they watched Wales win 27-23.
Jan said: “I went to Cardiff Arms Park about 18 years ago, coincidently to watch Wales v Scotland but I hadn’t been to the new stadium before. I thought Principality Stadium was marvellous. There was a great atmosphere and it was fantastic when everyone was singing. The noise level when players were about to score was absolutely fantastic. It was a wonderful day.
“Wales winning really was the ultimate ending. To have the wonderful three days and then getting to watch Wales win in the end it was absolutely brilliant. It was a fantastic weekend.”
In January, Principality Building Society and the Welsh Rugby Union started their 10-year partnership which saw Wales’ iconic home ground renamed Principality Stadium with the overarching aim to develop and grow rugby in Wales at all levels.
The partnership will provide Principality members with a range of benefits and hundreds of people have already won tickets to the RBS 6 Nations in Principality competitions. Hannah Poulton, Principality Building Society’s Head of Multi-Channel Communications, said: “Our partnership with the WRU supports the national game of rugby at all levels, throughout communities across Wales. Not only does it offer us wide brand exposure but it also allows us to offer significant benefits to our members, our employees, young people and community organisations.
“We are delighted that Jan won our first “money can’t buy experience” and we hope our members will continue to sign up to our Member Rewards page so that they can follow in Jan’s footsteps and win their own unforgettable experiences at Principality Stadium.”
