Young footballers strike it lucky with new kit from building society
A school in Wrexham is set for success on the pitch thanks to new football kits donated to them by Principality Building Society.
Ysgol y Grango’s football team was hand delivered the brand new kits by the Society’s Wrexham senior branch manager Amanda Davies. Principality has worked closely with Ysgol y Grango through the Business Class initiative, a Business in the Community (BITC) programme delivered by Careers Wales and funded by the Welsh Government.
As well as supporting their endeavours on the pitch, Principality has been mentoring pupils from Ysgol y Grango in the classroom too, sharing key skills to help the young people succeed in life after education. This has included everything from financial education workshops teaching the pupils the importance of savings and how to effectively manage their money, to practicing interview techniques for university or job opportunities.
Handing over the kits to the football team at the school in Rhosllanerchrugog, Amanda Davies said: “As part of our commitment to health and wellbeing at Principality, we’re proud to provide a new sports kit every year to schools we engage with through the Business Class programme. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with pupils from Ysgol y Grango so far, seeing them develop and hone key life skills. Let’s hope the new kits are a lucky charm on the pitch!”
Principality is currently working with five schools across Wales through the Business Class scheme.
Stephen Garthwaite, head teacher at Ysgol y Grango said: “We feel very fortunate to have the support of Principality Building Society through the Business Class initiative. Our students have developed skills that will be crucial to their life once they finish studying here. Thanks to Principality for the fantastic new kits.”
