Principality awarded Crystal Mark for Terms and Conditions

Principality Building Society has been awarded the Crystal Mark accreditation for its Savings Terms and Conditions.

The Crystal Mark, awarded by Plain English Campaign, comes as Wales’ largest building society reduced the wording of its Savings Terms and Conditions by half. The Society also consulted GCSE students in Wales for their opinion on the terms and conditions, including the structure, to ensure ease of reading for the Society’s members and customers.

Plain English Campaign work with organisations to ensure they are providing clear, easy-to-read and jargon-free information to customers and the public, with the Crystal Mark accreditation being awarded to documents which meet their criteria.

Tony Maher, General Manager at Plain English Campaign said:
‘’Principality are very worthy recipients of the Crystal Mark, an accreditation that shows a commitment not only to clarity and excellence, but to their customers. It’s crucial that anyone reading banking terms and conditions knows exactly what to expect, so we’re delighted to strike up this partnership with Principality.”

Vicky Wales, Chief Customer Officer at Principality Building Society said:
‘’It’s important for us to ensure we are providing our members and customers with the clearest possible information on our financial products to help them make informed decisions. We’d like to thank the Plain English Campaign for their support in helping us to achieve the Crystal Mark accreditation, as well as the hard-working students who kindly helped us to review the literature for our members and customers.’’
