Rugby legends make themselves at home with lucky Aberdare family
One Aberdare family experienced an unforgettable weekend as they were joined by three former Welsh rugby internationals to watch Wales take on New Zealand from the comfort of their own home.
Brogan Evans, 22, from Llwydcoed won Principality Building Society’s social media competition in honour of the Under Armour series, which saw Welsh rugby legends Gareth Thomas, Rupert Moon and Rachel Taylor head to her family home to watch Saturday’s game.
In arguably Wales’ biggest match in this autumn’s test series, the home nation were only one point down at half time but came up short against the All Blacks, with the final score 18-33.
Brogan, a freelance graphic designer, whose family are huge Welsh rugby supporters said: “Watching the game with Gareth, Rupert and Rachel was amazing. The result was a bit disappointing but we couldn’t have watched it with any better people. I don’t think you could beat today, it was fab! Thank you to Principality for making it happen.”
With over 170 international caps between them, Gareth, Rupert and Rachel enjoyed the tense moments of the game with Brogan and her extended family, who had popped over to watch the game and meet the rugby legends in person.
Rupert Moon, former Welsh scrum-half said: “Watching the game with Brogan’s family has been awesome. It’s been a very unique experience with such an amazing group of passionate Welsh rugby fans.”
Wales’ final clash of the Under Armour series will take place on Saturday 2nd December at Principality Stadium against South Africa.
Julie-Ann Haines, Chief Customer Officer at Principality Building Society said: “Not everyone can make it to the Principality Stadium for the game, but we know front rooms across Wales become fan zones as friends and family get together to support the team. We’ve loved seeing how much Brogan and her family enjoyed having the former players at their home to watch the match. As big supporters of Welsh rugby who are committed to communities across Wales, we’re so proud to be able to create these special money-can’t-buy prizes for families across Wales. It was a perfect way for Brogan’s family to get involved in the action on game day from the comfort of their own home!”
