How can I put money into my online only savings account?

As a building society we use Barclays Bank as our bank account provider, so don’t worry if you see Barclays appearing as the recipient bank when putting money into your Principality savings account.

To pay money in you will need to enter the following details:
Name/Payee: Principality Building Society
Sort code: 20-18-23
Account number: 90653535
Reference: your 9-digit Principality savings account number.

If I have registered for Your Account, can I take money out of any of my savings accounts online?

Yes, depending on your savings account's terms and conditions, you can take money out of any of your savings accounts online once you have registered for Your Account. Once registered, log into Your Account and select the Take money out option from the Account Services menu.

If your savings account is online only you can only take money out using the Move money to a linked account option. Just follow the instructions on screen. If the request is made before 3.30pm, an electronic transfer or CHAPS payment will be completed the same day. If you choose to take money out of your Account using a CHAPS payment, there will be a charge. Find the current charge here.

Transferring an ISA to Principality from another provider

When transferring an ISA from another provider to us, the other financial institution will need to see a signed transfer document which can be downloaded here. If you don't have access to a printer, please send us a secure message on Your Account or email us, and we will print the document off and send it to you. 

Please note, it can take 15 days for a cash ISA to be transferred and 26 days for a stocks and shares ISA to be transferred. 

How do I give maturity instructions?

The easiest way to complete your maturity journey is to register and log in to our online service, Your Account.  You’ll see the Your maturity options button on the maturing account. You can do this up to 14 days before your saving account’s maturity date. 

If you take some of the money out or close your savings account, you can receive your money by electronic transfer, CHAPS, by cheque or by adding it to another Principality savings account. Please follow the guidance on your maturity email or letter. You can also do this by visiting or calling your local branch or give us a call on 0330 333 4000. 

How to apply for an account as a new or existing customer?

To apply for a savings account online, go to our main Savings page, select the savings account, read the Summary Box and T&Cs and click the apply button. 
If you're an existing customer but have no active Principality accounts, you can apply as a new customer and it will match up to your existing login details.

At Principality Building Society, the health and wellbeing of our colleagues is our top priority. During the Summer of 2021, we’ve decided to close our branches and telephone lines on Saturdays that fall on bank holiday weekends to allow those colleagues the chance to enjoy them as much as everyone else.
