Forrest Homes, developing homes for local people in Kent

How we helped
Principality Commercial has supported Forrest Homes Limited with the delivery of their latest development at Triggs Farm, Goudhurst, Kent.
Forrest Homes is a family-run Kent developer with roots in the local area. The homes they are delivering are thoughtfully designed, small-scale developments that respond to the specific needs of the community.
Gareth Redding, Senior Portfolio Manager, said:
“We’re delighted to continue supporting Forrest Homes as they deliver much-needed housing for local people in Goudhurst. We have long known the family, who have been developing properties in the area for many years, and were only too pleased to be involved in this fantastic project.”
More from Forrest Homes
Goudhurst is a small, sought-after village set within the High Weald National Landscape , with a history stretching back over 900 years – its name means “battle hill” and its parish church has stood at the top of the village since at least 1119. It falls within the catchment area for Cranbrook School, a highly regarded selective state secondary, making it a particular draw for families. The site itself sits at the top of the hill, with far-reaching views across the valley, and the homes are arranged around a thoughtfully landscaped communal field at the heart of the development.
Like many rural communities, however, it has a limited supply of affordable homes.
Forrest Homes’ development at Triggs Farm, has been designed to help address this, with 4 of the 12 homes specifically developed for discounted sales to local buyers, with priority given to people from Goudhurst and the surrounding area.
This ensures that the homes will go to those who live or work in the parish, or who have close family ties to it, before being offered more widely. The aim of the development is to help fulfil the demand for additional homes, including first-time buyers, families and those looking to downsize in the village.
Alex Masters, Director at Forrest Homes, said:
"We are delighted to have worked with Gareth and the wider team at Principality. They have been supportive partners throughout the build. We are well ahead of schedule on this site, which is positive vs. much of UK construction but as ever there have been issues to deal with on the way. Gareth has been a very pragmatic partner as we have worked through these matters. We look forward to working with him on future residential schemes."
We look forward to updating on the development in the coming months.
