Introducing Intermediary Intel

Introducing the second edition of Intermediary Intel, Research produced by Principality Intermediaries to give brokers market insight.

In our latest edition, we dive into our latest broker tracker (Wave 9) to understand brokers perception of Principality and the market.

Brokers in the last quarter

In the latest wave, the research shows a shift with brokers more open to using new providers compared to the last wave, with 44% of brokers using a new lender in the previous six months. This is a uplift from the previous wave (33%).

There are several key noticeable reasons for this, with 50% of participants highlighting pricing and rates as the main factor, with 42% selecting a lender who offers more competitive terms.

The latest wave also saw a noticeable trend of brokers looking for better lending criteria (41% of PBS placers and 45% of non-PBS placers) and flexibility, which is an area of strength for Principality.

Continued broker satisfaction

Overall broker satisfaction with Principality remained steady with an average score among PBS placers of 87.2 out of 100

This average satisfaction score has remained steady since Spring 2025.  And, is once again driven by placers being ‘very satisfied’.

Brokers were more likely to recommend PBS to a client this wave with an NPS score of 65, compared to 51 in the previous two waves.

Principality currently leads across the 3 key drivers of broker satisfaction with lenders including:

  • meeting a wide range of customer needs through flexible lending criteria
  • using common sense when making decisions
  • sticking to decisions in principle.
