Principality Announces £500,000 Future Generations Fund to help young people in Wales

Principality Building Society has launched its second Future Generations Fund to give young people across Wales access to healthy food, technology and school equipment with the aim of helping them succeed in education.

The £500,000 fund, providing grants of £5,000 to £10,000, represents the most significant investment the Society has made into local communities in response to the cost of living crisis, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to help future generations. The fund will also help charities and community groups to help young people with financial education, careers skills, mental health services, and environmental projects.

The Future Generations Fund is open to applications via the Community Foundation Wales website and will close on Wednesday 8 February 2023.

Vicky Wales, Chief Customer Officer at Principality, said: “We are fully committed to helping people in our local communities and the roll out of our second Future Generations Fund is our biggest ever single investment in positive social impact activities. Our focus is on removing barriers and challenges thousands of young people face in Wales, so they have better opportunities to resources that are vital to boosting their education and wellbeing.

“Last year, we made the pledge to invest three per cent of our annual profits each year to help vulnerable sections of our communities. Working in partnership with Community Foundation Wales we have enhanced our community support, reach and impact. This year we are taking strides to have a greater impact by using the funds to help those most in need. This is our purpose and has been for more than 160 years, and our determination to make a difference is stronger than ever before in these difficult times."

Richard Williams, Chief Executive of Community Foundation Wales, said: “We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with Principality Building Society, helping them to support young people across Wales through the Future Generations Fund.

With the cost of living crisis hitting Welsh communities hard, this support is much needed to help improve the chances of young people.”
