Principality make tea kit donation to Martha Trust

The Hereford branch of Wales’ largest building society has made a surprise delivery of afternoon tea kits to the Martha Trust care homes.

The packs were donated by Principality Building Society to the residents and care workers to provide a treat after several challenging months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The kits, from Devon Heaven, which were packed with scones, tea, jam and cream were donated as part of the Society’s cupcake day fundraising event, where colleagues fundraised for Principality’s charity partners Teenage Cancer Trust Cymru and Alzheimer’s Society Cymru, as well as baking and donating to their local communities.

Based in Hereford, the Martha Trust provide lifelong support and care to people with physical and learning disabilities. Eight kits have been donated to their two care homes in the area.

Kelvin Morris, Branch Manager – Hereford, Principality Building Society said:
‘’We know that the Martha Trust residents and care workers will have found it difficult without being able to receive visitors, so we hope the packs will provide an enjoyable afternoon activity for them all and put a smile on their faces. We’re committed to supporting our local community and wanted to show our appreciation for the fantastic residents and care workers at the Martha Trust.’’

Sue McBride, Trust Director, Martha Trust Care Homes said:
“I would like to thank Principality Building Society for this wonderful surprise, the staff and residents at both homes thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to have such a lovely tea party. This has been a difficult and stressful time for everyone and our staff have been amazing. They have done everything possible to keep the residents and their colleagues safe. The opportunity to spend a relaxing afternoon over tea, scones and cake was a very welcome relief and was such fun – thank you.”
