As football fever heads to Wales, Principality’s charity game raises £1527 for Tŷ Hafan

As Wales head to their first World Cup finals in more than 60 years, football fever hit a charity game between Principality Building Society staff, and Tŷ Hafan Dads raising £1527 for the children’s hospice.

The game, which ended 2-2, was organised by Principality colleagues, after the building society donated a specially designed kit to the charity team earlier in the year. The majority of Tŷ Hafan's team are fathers of children who have life-shortening conditions and are supported by the children's hospice who are one of Principality’s current charity partners, alongside Hope House Tŷ Gobaith.  The building society’s fundraising efforts have already seen over £123,000 shared between the two children’s charities since March 2022.

Vicky Wales, Chief Customer Officer at Principality said, “We’re very proud to be supporting Tŷ Hafan as one of our chosen charities, and this was a great way to do something different to raise money and awareness for the important work that they do.

“We’re delighted that we’ve been able to raise £1527 on this occasion and I’m sure there will be a rematch in the future! I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped organise the game, and made it a really special event.”

Rachel Ritter, Head of Major Gifts and Partnerships for Tŷ Hafan children’s hospice, said: “What a fantastic afternoon of fun and football, and all thanks to our friends at Principality Building Society for organising it.

“The match itself was a huge success with the two teams pretty evenly matched making for an entertaining fixture.

“But that was only the half of it, because Principality’s team had also organised a tuck shop, a raffle with brilliant prizes, entertainment for the children and an amazing post-match buffet for everyone.

“We cannot thank everyone at Principality Building Society and their friends at Risca FC enough for what they have done for us through this wonderful event, and for what they are continuing to do for us through our charity of the year partnership with them and Tŷ Gobaith children’s hospice in North Wales.”
