Principality join forces with charity partners for Spooktacular Fun Runs

Principality Building Society, is joining forces with its two charity partners for a series of spooktacular and illuminating Dark Runs across North and South Wales.

The runs are organised by Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice, and Hope House Tŷ Gobaith who provide specialist care and support for children and their families. As well as sponsoring the event, Principality have pledged to match all donations made to the charity across the events up to a total of £50,000 for each charity.

The early evening runs will take place across eight different locations. For Ty Hafan these will be held at Barry Island on October 13th, Swansea Bay on October 14th, Caldicot Castle on October 21st with the final event being hosted at Cyfarthfa Castle on October 28th.

For Hope House Tŷ Gobaith, the events will take place at Penrhyn Castle on October 20th, Chirk Castle on October 21st, with the final runs hosted on October 28th at Telford Park and RSPB Conwy.

The fully accessible runs will range between 2.5km and 5km meaning that everyone can get involved, and of course fancy dress is encouraged. Entries are now open, £10 for adults and £5 for children.

Tony Smith, Chief Governance Officer at Principality Building Society, said: “We’re really proud to be supporting our charity partners as they put together these exciting events. We know the atmosphere is going to be amazing, and as ever there will be a great family feel to the celebrations. The current financial climate means that donations are more important than ever before to maintain the vital services that these amazing hospices provide for the children and families who they support. We’re proud to match-fund all donations at these events and can’t wait to get involved.”

James Davies-Hale, Head of Fundraising at Tŷ Hafan, said: “Principality’s pledge to match-fund what we raise up to £50,000 for these four runs is fantastic, we’re really grateful for their continued support. I hope that this will be a massive incentive for our supporters - long-standing and new - to get dressed up, get out there and raise as much as they can for us because thanks to our friends at Principality whatever they raise will be doubled. What’s not to love about that?”

Chief Executive of Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith Children’s Hospices, Andy Goldsmith, said: “We are excited to once again invite people to join us for our incredible Dark Runs. Every year these events bring our supporters together for a great evening of fun to raise vital funds for our hospices. You can run, walk, jog or even hop the runs if you like - these really are events for everyone, which is why they are so popular.

“With the support from our amazing partners at Principality Building Society we are looking to raise more than ever before, and I would like to thank them for their incredible offer to match fund up to £50,000.

“We need to raise £7.5 million every year to make sure we can be here for seriously ill children and their families. Without the great support from our community at fundraising events such as the Dark Runs, we wouldn’t be able to be there for those that need us the most.
