We pride ourselves on having maintained our mutual status for more than 150 years. Being a mutual Building Society means that we are owned by and run for the benefit of our 500,000 Members. As we do not have any shareholder interests to satisfy, all our profits are put back into your Society, to benefit you, our Members.
What is a Member?
You are a Member of Principality if you are over 18, and have a Mortgage or Savings account with us with a balance of £100 or over. For further details, click here for Principality Building Society Rules.
Being a Member gives you the right to:
- Make your voice heard
- Challenge the way your Society is run
- Vote at our Annual General Meeting
- Ask questions of the Board
Make your voice heard
Our interactions with Members help us to understand where we need to focus and improve, but also what we must continue to do. There are many ways we do this including through online and in-Branch feedback. We also hope to be able to run in-person Member events – including Talkbacks – in the future too, when guidance allows.
Over the years, our Member Forum has helped shape a lot of our Member feedback. Made up of a small number of volunteer Members, the Forum consulted with senior Society stakeholders quarterly, providing feedback on what we do, helping us to shape some of our strategic initiatives. The Forum has offered significant and valuable input into the Society. As the Society has been evolving, we talked to our Forum Members about how to increase the Member voice within the Society, and as a result, we’re proud to launch Member Pulse, an online community of Members across Wales and the UK whom we can consult with, and get views and feedback on in real time and on a frequent basis.
This means we are no longer recruiting directly onto the Forum, but to our online panel, Member Pulse, instead.
We would like to offer our thanks to the Forum, chaired by Robert Sanger, for the time, effort and advice they have given us over the years. We are confident that our new Member Panel will continue to ensure that your views really shape your Society, truly keeping our Members at the heart of what we do.
