Future Generations Fund

We created the Future Generations Fund, in partnership with Community Foundation Wales, with the aim of positively impacting local communities and improving the lives of young people in Wales.

We awarded money to projects throughout Wales to help more young people access:

  • healthy food
  • technology
  • school equipment
  • financial education
  • career skills
  • mental health and well-being services
  • environmental projects

In 2022, as part of our first Future Generation Fund, we donated £117,000 to 24 youth and community groups and charities across Wales.

Aber Food Surplus

Aber Food Surplus is a not-for-profit social enterprise focused on taking action on climate change by tackling food waste and delivering meaningful, community place-based change.

They redistribute approximately 2 tonnes of food waste per month with 53 active volunteers and revalue this food to connect people with the food system.

Arts Factory exists to change people lives from all walks of life, specifically working with people who are disadvantaged, have a learning disability or mental health issues.

Autistic Minds support roughly 6,000 autistic people and their families annually.

BulliesOut support individuals, schools, youth and community settings and the workplace through positive and innovative anti-bullying programmes and to empower individuals to achieve their full potential.

Caerau Community Growers

Caerau Community Growers work alongside the local community to promote living a more healthy lifestyle, with a main focus on the importance of a healthy diet based on home-grown fruit and vegetables.

This is to tackle the Public Health Wales report that shows the local people have 20 years less healthy life expectancy, compared to the rest of Bridgend.

Camarthen Youth Project

Carmarthen Youth Project provide a drop-in setting 5 days a week offering a lot of activities to benefit the community.

Centre for African Entrepreneurship support ethnically diverse communities in Swansea and the surrounding areas. They support refugees, asylum seekers, young people and ex-offenders.

Eginiad Cymru Cyf

Eginiad Cymru Cyf provide free and low-cost wellbeing services to the local community in the Dyfi Valley.

They’ve run over 750 online and in-person classes such as yoga, writing, photography, Mindfullness Based Stress Relief and managing anxiety for children and parents.

NW Nappy Collaborative CIC

NW Nappy Collaborative’s main aims are to reduce waste for environmental purposes and support people through financial insecurity.

They collect supermarket surplus and distribute it to people in need, preventing waste. They offer a solution to period poverty by providing reusable sanitary wipes as well as reusable nappies and wipes for families that can’t afford their single use counterparts.

Stephens and George Centenary Charitable Trust

Stephens and George Centenary Charitable Trust improve the life chances for young people and the community through training, support, wellbeing, counselling and fitness programmes.

Coetir Anian is a charity committed to restoring the wildlife habitats in and around the 142 hectares of beautiful land at Bwlch Corog in the Dyfi catchment area.

Friends of Pedal Power Ltd

Friends of Pedal Power aim to enable everyone, all ages and abilities, to access the benefits of cycling. They achieve this through a combination of equipment, experience and expertise.

Ospreys Wheelchair Rugby Club provide rehabilitation physically, socially and mentally through sport by giving the opportunity for disabled people to take part in wheelchair rugby where they meet friends, build confidence and learn a whole set of new skills.

SpokesPerson

SpokesPerson support marginalised people in cycling. They run a bicycle workshop to service bicycles for the community at a low cost. They also fix donated bicycles and sell them at affordable prices. 

They also run one-to-one and group classes on basic bicycle mechanics, and attend local markets where a mechanic can fix small issues there and then. For disabled individuals or those unable to travel, they provide a service of collecting bicycles by car and returning them once fixed.

Swansea Community Farm

Swansea Community Farm is Wales’ only city farm, set in a deprived area of Swansea where volunteers care for livestock, wildlife and each other to improve wellbeing and resilience.

Working at the farm helps vulnerable people rebuild their confidence, learn new skills and develop new interests in growing food, caring for animals and the environment. The focus is addressing health inequalities and promoting health literacy.

The Aloud Charity

The Aloud Charity was founded in 2012 to give underrepresented boys from marginalised Welsh communities the opportunity to sing.

The Only Boys Aloud, Only Girls Aloud, and Only Kids Aloud choir programmes have supported young people's improved mental health and increased confidence as they rebuild their lives following the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Family Place Foundation provides vital therapeutic support for vulnerable adoptive, foster and kin carer families.

Y Tŷ Gwyrdd

Y Tŷ Gwyrdd are a grassroots community hub with a zero-waste shop offering re-fill groceries, household and gardening products, locally made gifts, an indoor children’s play space, and studio/room hire, aiming to help support ethical consumerism, and reduce unnecessary packaging and food waste.
